WAR DEPARTMENT Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen, and Abandoned Lands, Washington, September 25, 1868. SPECIAL ORDERS, No. 124 Extract I. Bvt. Brig. Genl. S.C. Armstrong, Agent of this Bureau, is directed to proceed to Philadelphia Pa, Trenton N.J. New York City, New Britain Conn, Westfield Mass. Amherst Mass, Salem Mass, and Boston Mass. to collect information regarding the manner of conducting Normal Schools at those places, with a view to the improvement of the Freedmen's Normal School at Campton Va. On the completion of his duties he will return to his station at Campton Virginia. The Chief Disbursing Officer will settle his account for cost of transportation. By order of Major-General O. O.
