Pursuant to authority contained in instructions from Bt Brig Genl O Brown Asst Com BRF and AL Dist of Va of date Apl 29, 1868 Maj J.N. Croft Agent BRF and AL will proceed without delay to Yorktown Va and such other parts of the State as it may become necessary to visit for the purpose of Summoning Witnesses, and obtaining information relative to the Arrest, Trial and Sentence of Abul Williams, Henry [[?]], Robert Kemp, and Samuel Trice for the murder of John Wooden in Warwick Co in the latter part of the year 1866.
Before proceeding to is destination Maj Croft will report at these Head Quarters for further instructions.
