certain, and constant. All wards should be white washed, inside and out,- bedding, [[strikethrough]]beds [[/strikethrough]] floors, and clothing of patients receive careful attention-and personal cleaning among them secured by the free use of the bath-insisted upon.

Disinfectants should be used as far as necessary, and if not on hand requisition should be made for these at once-and their use continued with careful vigilance during the warm season to remove all causes of disease as far as possible and secure the best possible sanitary conditions.

Surgeons in charge of freedmen in Quarters, will exert their influence to the utmost to promote the same sanitary condition, referred to above, among those under their charge. They will impress upon them the importance of the same and insist upon their being carried out in Quarters,-and are authorized to inform them, that those who will not comply(as far as their means will permit) with this advice as they subject, will secure no further aid from the Medical Officer of the Bureau until they show a determination to do so,
