Major,
I am directed by the Asst. Com'r to acknowledge receipt of communication from P.L.S. Virden dated 18th inst making applications for transportation of colored orphan boy aged 9 years from Jackson Miss to Philadelphia, Penn. (forwarded recommended in endorsement from your office dated 18th Jany) and to say that the transportation has been ordered by the Asst Com'r. The transp'n passes will be forwarded immediately upon the return of the Disbursing Officer of the Bureau for this State. The name of the boy not being given in the application and a name being necessary to make the transp'n valid he has been dubbed John Virden.
