country for the Moores show that loyal American citizens, especially Negro citizens, intend to carry on. Local American Negro soldiers would do well to ponder what must be the thoughts of Master Sergeant George Simms, home on leave from Heartbreak Ridge and his dead buddies in Korea to Heartbreak Ridge and his dead relatives in Mims, Florida, U.S.A.
Christmas is said to bring out the best in even the worst people. What is brought out in certain UnAmerican citizens in Florida was the blasting to death of Harry T. Moore and his wife Harriet.
The time has come for us all to re-examine this American Way-of-Life, and to take note that our citizens, our laws, our country and its traditions and world prestige are desperately threatened and attacked by a few vicious, powerful active UnAmericans who are seeking to overthrow our Constitution by force and violence, assassination and terror. We must also take note that local, State and Federal investigators have not discovered one Communist among these UnAmericans.

June 10, 1964

This year 1964 when Americans speak of a "long hot summer" they are not speaking so much about the weather, they are thinking nervously and fearfully about the temper of the American people, black and white.
We Negroes have now passed the point of no return.  We are determined, determined to claim our full citizenship and human rights now, period.
The situation in our country is frightening and dangerous. One reason for the fear and the danger is the lack of effective communication between us Afro-Americans and the enemy. The enemy is that section of white America, official and unofficial, which continues often with force and violence - to deny us our full rights.
The enemy refuses to meet and talk with us, and to listen to us; often when there is conversation even with those who think of themselves as our friends, we and they seem to be talking about different things, or speaking a different language. And there is the peculiar
