if you will take the Freedmans Bureau away we will make them fulfill their contracts. I find a strong disposition to drive.

But I am happy to say that there are those that have always been hard masters that have taken the proper course with the Freedmen and say they never worked better. In fact every one that is treating their hands in a proper maner report that they are doing better then they expected.

Many of those who were working on those old and worn out places have left them and three, four, & five months labor lost, and gone and hired where they have means, [[nicer?]] (I hope) and better hands.

Taking all things into consideration I am gratified with the way things are progressing and if there was some way to throw a little light, into the out of the way places I think it would help wonderfully, but one side is heard here.

The prospect for the Freedmans schools is really flatering and teachers will be here in a few days to commence operations
