under any circumstances.- the number of complaints weekly tried by the Freedmen's court. for the size of the County and the number of its population are comparatively few, and most of those cases are for small debts and insignificant complaints, as they turn out on investigation.- there is only one case of grave importance, which has occurred in the County and came to my notice during the month.- Case of grand Larceny. a free Woman robbing the House of a gentleman of his property, to the value at the lowest one hundred & fifty Dollars. the Woman is now confined in the Jail at this place and proper charges and specifications have been made out, and forwarded to Capt. Stuart Barnes, Petersburg, for trial by Military Commission.
