Eastville At Eastville Va where a small and poorly provided Hospital was in existence at the time of the Establishment of the Bureau. A very comfortable one, and well provided in all respects, has been established and is now in good running order with beds laid for and capacity and conveniences ready for any necessary increase Total number of beds laid in this Hospital Nov 25th 30 Total number of beds occupied 16 Total number of Nurses Cooks &c 3 Total number of Medical Officers 1 This hospital is believed to be sufficient for the wants of the Eastern Shore. In the improved condition of Freedmen on that shore, the demands for assistance are so much lessened that it is not deemed, with the present amount of sickness, an absolute necessity to keep more than one medical officer on duty on the Shore. The Hospital at Eastville provided with a competent Steward allows the medical officer in charge to make two weekly visits to Drummondtown and in this manner all pressing cares are provided for.
