wants and for Hospital necessities of Appomattox Court House from whence proper cases are received here  Camp and Quarters for Freedmen are in fair Sanitary condition at Lynchburg.

The hospital Existing at this place was in poor condition and could not be improved without large expense. It did not seem an absolute necessity it has been discontinued and patients requiring hospital treatment are sent to Farmville. there is no medical officer on duty at this Station. he having been relieved ten days ago as the demands were not So pressing there as at other points. this place is near the North Carolina line and many refugees from that State are there. If they were Sent home at present there would scarcely be a demand for a medical officer there. There may be one later in the Season.  The medical officer of the Bureau is on duty at Staunton, Lexington, Winchester or in that district.  I have just made a contract with our
