right plain & guess right hard & that if he did not go and return the articles that I would put him in jail. The col'd people said they did not want to bring suit against him, but they only wanted what was due then. Upon his appologising for what he had done I let him go. But he went out & I told a big story & by the next morning it was all over the county. & the Chief Justice of the county was here next morning, But D. Chatham (one of the court) had told him he guessed the young man was to blame. & enquired [[inquired]] of me the particulars. He said he was a dringing fillow & quite rash So I supposed the matter ended. But I now find quite a number side with him & they keep stirring it up. I tell you Capt. I believe they think they will soon have their representatives in Congress with the whole power in their own hands If so good by F. Bu & poor Fire Capt. I hope you will not think I am frightened, but I thought it was right that you should know of the change in a few days I have no favors from you since the 23rd/wk & no word from the Ration.

I have the honor to be very respectfully your obt svt
W. F. White Capt & Asst Supt.
