Freedmen are very generally employed by contract or on shares. Excitement consequent on Presidents veto has subsided, and the assurance that the aid of the F.B. will not be taken away for a year has also had a "quieting" effect. The opposition to a Freedmens school has died away owing to a fear that troops were to be sent there. Civil rule in the town of Warrenton is not strong, and many rum shops have the effect of causing a great deal of disorder. Ex rebel soldiers in uniform
