Asst Commr. Bureau of R.F. & A L
Richmond Va.

Colonel
In compliance with instructions contained in Circular No. 6
Bureau R.F & AL Richmond Va Jan 29th 1866 I have the honor to report the condition of Bureau affairs in the County of Fauquier for the month of March 1866 I am gratified to be able to say that the condition of affairs now are of a
very encouraging character. The freedman are all busily employed either in farming pursuits or other employment and there seems to be no disposition on their part to kiss [[strikethrough]] idle [[/strikethrough]] the time away - in lump I can see that there is considerable discrimination of the opposition against the Bureau by the white they have however been rather hostile, until of late, toward the establishment of the Freedmens School here but this hostility is I think being somewhat diminished the school was moved on the night of the 15th. inst by a lot of rowdies but the town authorities promptly rallied to my assistance
