   I have the honor to report that I have heard during the past month some sixty cases in which the freedmen brough forth claims for money due them for services rendered
   Many of these claims date back to the surrender of Richmond, and it is indeed a difficult matter to collect the amts due the Freedmen even after such a long standing.
   I had a case before me in which aa Doctor named Alexander attempted to take a car and a thousand feed of lumber from a colored man to pay the debt of another colored man, of course I put a stop  to such work.
   Again I had a case before me in which a man named Pogue caused a Freedman to be struck thirty nine lashes on the bare back some time during last June.  I have heard the case but as there are some peculiar facts in it I intend as soon as the parties interested produce certain papers which
