or pointed out. While at the same time there is some complaint in a general way that many are idle. Stealing has been complained of somewhat and in a few cases traced to freedmen.

There are but fifteen persons now receiving rations from the Govt. These are cases really objects of charity- and those that have no former master who is now able to support them,  their house room & wood is given them where they are without any charge.

The freedmen are generally healthy at this time. No contagious diseases now among them in this county to my knowledge.

The medical fraternity I believe attend them when called upon, at least no complaint has been made to me.   

The civil officers so far as I can learn have treated the Freedmen in accordance with the changed condition and are disposed to do them justice.

There is a plenty of work now for many more laborers then can be had and some need now be idle for want of work if they only make that want known
