cultivating the land of their former masters "or shares". Many contracts of this kind have been made, indeed, it is only in contracts of this kind or other agreements where the terms are somewhat intricate, that much disposition is shown to seek the sanction of the Bureau in making the contract. But few contracts for labor by the day, month or year, have been made through the Bureau.
The sanitary condition of the County is extremely good. The freedom being scattered and nowhere collected into anything like a village, the danger of contagioun is very slight. Every precaution, however, will be taken to guard against the possibility of the introduction of spread of contagious diseases.
