gave rise to some threats of future severity on the side of the Whites, and for a time created much excitement on the part of the Freedmen, this however has in a great measure subsided, although there is still a mutual distrust existing between the parties.  There is also a great bitterness of feeling existing between the White Refugees, and those who remained on this side, but so far it has not been the cause of any serious difficulty.

There has been no cases of outrage by either parties since my last report.  And the decisions and orders of the Freedmens Court, have been respected and obeyed, if not with cheerfulness, at least with promptness.
