cultivation before the War, is this year for the first time since five years again in cultivation with the promise of a very rich harvest. In Corn, Oats, Potatoes both Irish and Sweet, and also in vegetables.

The morality of the Freedmen in this County is improving very much. There is comparatively very little larceny now perpetrated, that in a whole month I have not had a single case before me.

The active measures taken to prevent the spreading of the Small-pox in this County have been such that there has been but one case, and that has been so long, that I am inclined to believe that we will have no more.
