Bureau R F and A Lands
Office Assist Supt Nottoway County Va
Nottoway Court House April 30th 1866

Colonel O Brown
Asst Commissioner
State of Virginia

Sir
I have to honor to make the following report of Freedmen's Affairs in the County of Nottoway Virginia for the month ending April 30th 1866.

I have visited nearly every part of this County during the past week and had an opportunity of learning the Condition of the Freedmen, and the state of feeling existing between them and the whites

There is a class of whites (Aristrocats) in this County who are continualy complaining and finding fault with the new system of Free labour, and they have a strong prejudice against the Freedmen.

They Freedmen could not suit those men no matter how well they worked, this same class of men are opposed to the education of the Colored people
