Brvt. Major W. Storer How
Supt Bureau of R.F and A.L.

Major
I have the honor to forward the following Report pertaining to affairs in my Sub District_

During the month of April I have investigated sixty four cases of dispute between freedmen and whites and the freedmen themselves, nine tenths of these cases were claims for wages for services rendered during the past year many of these dating back to the 10th of April 1865

I have collected for the freedmen during the past month the sum of five hundred and seventy one dollars and seventy eight cents ($571 78/100),

Independent of the above I have recovered one "mule" for a freedman (value of mule $200) said mule was forciably detained by a man named Lockridge who resides in Bath County Va I rode over one hundred miles in four days to give the case a hearing_ I held my court at the Warm Springs Hotel, Lockridge employed Mr Tyrell (attorney for Bath County) to plead his case
