It has been my purpose to ascertain the wants of the Farmers in order that if possible, I might facilitate their interests and also those of the Freedmen, by securing help for the one and home and employment for the other. -

In general the treatment which I have received from citizens has been civil, and unexceptionable.

I believe that sensible men regard the Bureau with favor, approve of its objects, and its purposes, and think that if properly managed is an advantage to them and also to the Freedmen.
