Busby E W.
Lieut and Asst Supt.

Reports the condition of Bureau affairs and state of feeling existing between Whites and Blacks is not as promising as it was a month or more ago. The acquittal of of Mc Clanahan charged with the murder of a Freedman (who was working for him) has alarmed the Freedmen very much, who declare that if the protection of the U.S. is withdrawn they will have to abandon the lands they have rented, and leave the country.
