Your Office of date May 10th of no sessions of the freedmens court has been held during the month. Either before or since its receipt at this office. There was not one case to be brought before it and that was the case of Withers (col'd) vs Amanda Hully (white) a report of which has been furnished you through Maj James Johnson V.R.C in response to a complaint made against me by Miss Hully to the President of the U.S: of which I am awaiting further orders and instructions.

As far as my observation has been called to the result of turning criminal causes over to the civil authorities I am satisfied (as per my report already furnished) that the interests of the freedmen have been regarded in the impartiality & that justice has been fairly meted out to them [[strikethrough]] freedmen [[/strikethrough]]

No children have been bound out by me during the month. The consent of the Kin invariably cannot be had for any such purpose.
