The County has not yet assumed the care of the indigent Freedmen in every case, and those that were so supported before the War, are now [[?]] for support upon Gvmt. This it is obvious was from necessity. At the next Co. Court taxes are to be levied for support of paupers the past year and I understand the question of assuming the care of indigent Freedmen will be discussed.

The Freedmen in this Co. have built a log house which they occupy as a church and school house, since their church was burnt in March last.

Many of the Freedmen have certain land as shares are are working very industriously, at times labor by the month or year, and all are beginning to feel the necessity of working for a support.

I am very Respectfully
