timber, and at other useful labors with a degree of industry which, considering their so recent liberation from slavery, is quite laudable. 
More laborers are required, and any who may come from other parts of the State will, at once, get employment. 
I have to reiterate the apprehension expressed in my last Report that next year the system of farming for themselves will be adopted by many of the Freedmen who are entirely unprepared for the responsibilities thereby engendered, and to protest against such system, indiscriminately pursued, as injurious to the prosperity of the State and the interests of both classes of citizens, but more especially of the colored class.
