advantages of the Freedmans Court, more since its adjournment than I did before.

My associates, Dr. Brown, and Col. Carrington are men of broad and enlightened views, and being in high Social Standing have given the Court dignity and popularity, while their assistance to me, especially during the first month, was indispensible.

In my humble judgment the Freedmans Court as constituted in this state is necessary for the adjustment of difficulties between the white people and the freedmen - and for the preservation of order and good feeling as long as the "Bureau" is continued, - and perhaps longer.
