Reports the feeling existing between whites & freedmen as not harmonious - that they have contracted by the year but feeling of distrust exists with both classes - and a hostility on part of the middle & lower classes of whites, gives statement of case now before the civil courts 

Also of negro who came in wounded - by white citizens because he refused to play the banjo
