Major
I have the honor to forward the following report for the month ending May 31st 1866, and state that previous to the receipt of the order suspending the Freedmans Court at this place, I had investigated some twenty five cases mostly claims for wages.

The amt collected up to the 15th of the month for the Freedmen in this county, was ($210 40/100) Two hundred and ten dollars and forty five cents.

Since the receipt of the order suspending my Court I have had a large number of applications from freedmen for assistance to enable them to collect their wages from various parties, I have gone with such parties to some of the Magistrates in the town and given them such advice and assistance as was in my power, to enable them to procure summons and warrants where they were needed.

But I fear it will be a very difficult matter for the freedmen to obtain any pay whatever
