A.Q.M. & Supt. B.R.F. & A.L.

Major;

I have the honor to forward through your Office to the Hd. Qrs. Asst. Com'r. the following report showing the condition of Bureau Affairs &c.

The Freedmen are all at work and providing for themselves well and as I said in my last report, working on shares; I anticipate a great deal of trouble in the settlement of these shares, for instance, a farmer in this County has six Freedmen working on his farm, two or three of these may work very well, and the ballance in his estimation do not do so well, the employer is going to divide the crops himself and will not allow each one a full share, he will pay them according to what he may think their value which I apprehend is going to cause some disturbance. I have heard it expressed among some of the most wealthy farmers who do not hire only by the month and pay cash or by the year and pay cash
