The Freedmen in a certain case are greatly disheartened especially where they have undertaken to go into business for, and by themselves; last year they were deprived of the necessaries of life and some of them are now in debt for trifling sums, in some instances the white people have sued them, procured judgment against them, and taken their only horse, entirely stopping the cultivation of their crops which is great injustice to the Freedmen if it occurs again I shall put a stop to the proceedings and make a report.

The Registry which is being made of those cohabiting together as man and wife is progressing well, as is all other matters connected with the Bureau.
