All books (except those mentioned) are supplied by the "Friends Freedmen's Christian Association," who also pay the teachers. The rent of the school room is paid by several colored people of this (Wythe) county. The teachers are entittled to much credit for what they have accomplished under the circumstances.
I am not able to say as to whether there are, or not, a sufficient number of colored children in the county seat of Grayson to warrant the establishment of a school. My being taken sick while inspecting the county prevented my assertaining more facts in regard to the "Demand for School."
