of the freedmen to Idle their time they are working faithfully to get something laid by for next year. A great many of them who have rented land are now Suffering for the necessaries of life but with commendable perseverance they still continue to struggle on until their present crop is fit for use.
There has been no Cases of violation of contract reported during the month, and but little difficulty has occurred between them and the whites.
I have been informed that some of the whites in parts of the county have advised the Freedmen not to come or give their names here for the purpose of making their marriage register, telling them that the intention is to get their names for the purpose of putting them in the Army.
