In forwarding herewith the usual monthly report, required in Circular No. 6 C.S. dated H'd. Quarters assistant Commissioner State of Va. Richmond Va January the 29 1866. I had the honor to state that during the present Month June, having been traveling almost through every part of this county, in purpose to make the register of the cohabiting freed people. 
I had more opportunity as ever befor, to make me acquainted with general feeling and treatment of the two races (white and freedman), and to myself satisfaction. I have found it, [[strikethrough]] whit [[/strikethrough]] with a exception of a few cruel white citizens and a few misleaded freedmen & women, in, I may freely say, good condition. The freed people by their usual labor, and general better feeted as befor and during the Rebellion (this according to their own testimony) enjoi a state of good health with no interruption of sikniss [[sickness]] at all. & being so able, to perform their duty well, please
