Matt Howard (colored) being duly sworn states that the within account is a correct one and the articles specified therein are all that he knew of Mr. E. M. Yeager since Febry 13th 1867 That the pants, coat, vest, drawers, and shoes appearing in Mr E. M. Yeagers account against himself. were given him in settlement of account up to the 13th Febry.

The tools charged against him were some of them stolen, but that he never agreed to be responsible for the tools that might be lost, while he was in Mr Yeagers services. The time lost was only seven days. The money paid to him were advanced to wife and charged to him he knows nothing of never having given any instructions that his wife should be paid his wages his wife denies having received any money from them. The wife worked for Mr Yeager but had a separate account taking cast off clothing for her work. The pair of shoes appearing in the account of Mr Yeager at $10, were old shoes and offered and purchased at $5
