The State of Mississippi
Rankin County

In the matter in controversy between Emily M. Reeves, as owner & landlord, & Tempe Skinner, a lessee & Edmund Maxey as subcontractor under Tempe Skinner as lessee, which by the Military order from Head Quarters in Jackson directed to the contracting parties to be settled by arbitration under & in pursuance of the order from Head Quarters of Major General Ord, the parties selected arbitrators as follows to wit, 
Mrs Emily M. Reeves selected Joseph M. Jayne 
Tempe Skinner selected James H. Whitfield 
& Edmund Maxey selected Wm. H. Battlefare
the said arbitrators in pursuance of said order & selection met on this 27th day of December 1867 at the Court House of Rankin County & were attended by all the parties, their witnesses & council & the testimony of the parties & their witnesses were heard by ea & all the contracts & accounts between the parties were submitted & proof thereof received & the cause being "That Mrs Emily Reeves shall be [[strikethrough]] shall be [[/strikethrough]] paid for supplies furnished as her contract & account proves out of the proceeds of the Cotton crop amounting to the sum of twelve hundred & twenty eight 43/100 dollars & that the remainder of all the crops of cotton, completely &c shall be equally divided between said Emily M. Reeves & Tempe Skinner & after said as division as representing all the laborers on said farm, [[?]] [[?] Edmund Maxey shall have one third of the entire crops made on the place during the present year to be divided as per contract between him & Tempe Skinner provided so much
