NARA 253

to say that I never would have agreed to any such contract nor did I ever so understand it. Edward made the contract with me & he was to have one third of the crop. But according to the decision he is as badly off as I am_
I am willing to abide by the decision made if I can have no relief and I do not complain for the purpose of cheating any one: but I do say that the facts & figures show that I have been very harshly dealt with in the arbitration in that Mrs Reeves has done better than any body In this year if such contract as written is to stand, I confess signing it but I will say on my dying bed that I did not understand it as it is written & acted - all the year on the idea that it was as I have stated it. If there is any relief for me I desire to have it, if not I will submit to your decision.
