by Freedmen the School is attended by one hundred children and growen persons and is in a flourishing state. There is a strong desire on the part of the colored people here to have their children educated I would also state that there are five other Sunday Schools in this Sub Dist. that have an attendance of fifty Scholars each. I cannot give the names of the places where these schools are, held but will as soon as practicable find out and, make a full report as called for in circular letter No 23 Dated Richmond Va July 18th 1866.

I have commenced the work of making a registry of the marriages of the Freedmen as called for in circular No 11 And I am getting throug with it briskly in this county. Teachers are needed here very much to teach the Freed children A School of Two Hundred pupils could be established in this Town. The colored people are industrious, and the supply of work equal to the demand. They have all become self sustaining.

Very Respectfully
Your Obedient Servant
