in my power to further their wishes in this respect. at first they appeared very adverse to doing this but in the mean time outrages of every description were being perpetrated with impunity throughout the "County" and a correspondence with the Chief Magistrate ensued -of which copies were forwarded. upon which the Asst Comr of the state deemed it expedient to reorganize the Court under a new formation and by authority of S.O. No 106 Par II dated Hd Quarters Asst Commr Va. Richmond, Va. July 5th 1866. The aforementioned court is now in session, consisting of the Chief Magistrate of the County and associate Justice and the Asst Supt of the county its action thus far has been harmonious and the gentlemen associated with me have merited thanks for their urbanity and the fairness and justice which they have manifested. I would add however, all cases which have been presented so far the "Freedman" alone has been an interested party. cases between the whites and blacks will be presented at the next court. This combination of the Civil and Military can but be productive of the best results, as the "Freedmen" will thus learn to respect the authorities which he will be under after the removal of the Bureau  The reorganization of the "Court" in this county
