States that the feeling between whites & Blacks is that ordinarily existing between employer & employee - The action of the Courts has been such as to give the freemen a feeling of security and made them better laborers States that the school house used by Rev. Nor. Towles for freedmen was burnt down - puclic opinion is very much against such deeds - thinks the school will be rebuilt. Reports that his flag staff was broken by unknown parties - that the citizens came and helped repair the damage - Unless supported by private charity the freedpeople [[Strikethrough]] ha [[/Strikethrough]] has men [[?]] will starve - as the county will not provide for them until Jany next. extract copied Office Supt 4 Dist.
