Whites and Freedmen, who occasionally give some little annoyance, which generally a little sensible advice, and the exercise of judgement settles.

The welfare of the Freedmen, depend greatly on themselves.  The change to them, was so sudden, that it gave use to many ethereal ideas, and now in order to fullfil the part of their destiny, they must acquire the true principles of manhood, then that confidence will be placed in them, which is necessary to their own happiness and prosperity, and the happiness and prosperity of communities, in which they live, as far as possible I have endeavored to use my influence for their good, and have urged many, to establish true points of honor, industrious, and economical habits.
