General.
Pursuant to Circ. No. 6 C.S., Hd Ars. Asst. Comr. State of Va, I have the honor to report the condition of affairs in this county.

The several schools now established are still closed during the regular vacation. New schools for freedpeople are being organized and by October 1st, (at which time the vacation ends,) it is expected that the educational interests of this county, will be well represented.

The crops may be looked upon as a failure, most of the corn in this section having withered during the severe and long continued drought.

Much destitution has existed throughout the county
