In Compliance with Circular No "6" H'd Qurs Asst Comr State of Va, I have the honor to report the Condition of Bureau affairs in this County as being in the main Satisfactory with but few exceptions. The Freedmen are contented, and working diligently particularly at this time, in gathering and housing the crops. Complaints of any Nature either on the part of the Freedmen or Whites have during the month just ending, been very rare. There has been less Complaint of stealing on the part of the Freedmen, than any period since Their emancipation.
 
In the matter of education, There is growing disposition on the part of the greater portion of the Whites to see the Freedmen educated and but few show any disposition to throw any impediment in their way, there are however some few who talk loudly against it but they are people of no Character or influence and can do but little harm. At the same time that nearly the entire community favors the education of the Freedmen

Very few are disposed to do any thing to forward that object, in in a pecuniary way. Seeming to think
