Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen, &c.
Off. Asst. Supt., Albermarle Co., Va.,
Charlottesville, October 29, 1866.

Bvt. Lieut. Col. James A. Bates,
Act. Asst. Adj't. Genl,
Richmond, Virginia.

Colonel:
I have the honor to report, in compliance with Circular. No. 6, current series, Head Quarters, Asst. Com., Va., that nothing worthy of mention has occurred in this sub. district during the present month. Very few complaints of any kind have been lodged with me, and none of a serious character.

With a few exceptions, the state of feeling between the white and colored people, is quite as good as could be expected, so far as I have knowledge.

Among certain of the colored people, there is considerable ill feeling, resulting from the abandonment of wives and the seduction of unmarried women.
