a school house; but no party in the County could be found, to sell any land, for the purpose desired, and the men were informed by a gang of ruffians, who rule the County, that if they attempted to organize a School, they would burn it down.

The result of such treatment, and prejudices, is that the Freedmen are becoming dissatisfied, have no confidence in their employers, do not work as well as formly, are becoming lazy and indifferent, and now are really giving their employers serious grounds for finding fault with their conduct. Others are intending to leave the County, as soon as they receive their year's share of the crop or money wages. thinking that they may in some adjoining counties, be treated with some degree of justice or fairness, I do not believe there is another county in this State, in which the Freedmen are treated with more injustice, or prejudice, than this county, but I also believe that the difficulty will regulate itself, in a short time, as soon as the Employers ascertain the result their conduct
