Mr. Geo McCandlish resided on the farm in May 1862 when we took possession of the county and continued in charge of it until the spring of 1864 when the property real and personal was turned over to the Freedmens Bureau.

I find that Capt Thompson C.S. was on the 21st inst directed to relieve Capt Felt C.S. in his duties as C.S. at Norfolk, so that Capt Felt is probably now - or will be in a few days - ready for duty with Colonel Brown, which may perhaps enable him to get along without Capt Gage at present
