Brown with the information that the horse alluded to, is I presume borne on the property return of Q.M Dept. for which you are responsible, and cannot be dropped from it without orders from Competent Authority, but I incline to the opinion that the request should be granted A.S. Porter 11 July 1865 Representing the case of Julia Christian as needing and deserving Endorsed Office Supt Dist Henrico Richmond July 11th 1865. Respty referred to Col O. Brown Asst Com'r &c with the statement that Julia applied last week for rations & was informed, as were all other similar applicants, that if they needed such aid they must go to "Chimborazo" This she delined [[declined]] doing. She is working for Mrs. Horton for the rent of her habitation over.
