Brown, Asst Comr Va, with this statement in addition to the endorsement of Lt Keatley, all these applications endorsed "held for revenue" are for property lately turned over by the Treasy Agt, and have been rented by a lease from that office, and it seems hardly possible to break these leases without throwing damages upon the govt - very few of these buildings are occupied by the Freedmen-

Respty returned with the report - the Murray Farm is the home of a large number of destitute colored persons who could not be removed under two weeks - and some must remain until the crop is fully tilled - I understand Murray the applicant has no family if so he could have accommodation in the house at any time for himself-
