Brown, Asst Com'r, State of Va - attention is invited to the within application and endorsements - It is impossible to obtain medical assistance from the Military authorities either in the detail of Surgeons, or the furnishing of Medicines - In this City there are upwards of one hundred, who require medicines and attendance daily: at Farmville about fifty- This number is being daily augmented, by additions sent from the different counties, of sick and permantly disabled - It is impracticable to send more to Point of Rocks, or City Point Hospitals, as the number there is already too great to receive the proper care from the only one

Surgeon in Charge - Prompt and decisive action must at once be taken in the Medical Dept of this Bureau, in this Dist; else great suffering and mortality will ensue
