Respty refd to Capt A S. Flagg &c - Mr Lee did not take the Amnesty oath until forced to do so after the fall of Richmond - He was a very prominent man in the building of the works at Yorktown. He has about fifteen hundred acres of land which he abandoned in 1861 - He is now in possession of all his land, with the exception of about 250 acres (which is leased) to colored people under an order granted by Genl Ludlow - He has been arrested since his return for taking away stock in possession of the colored people claiming it as his own - part of the personal property he claims consists of portions of the govt Steam Saw Mills on Young's farm and on Mulberry Island

Respty refd to Col O Brown &c with attention called to endorsement of Lieut Robinson, his property should be retained as long as any is held by the Bureau as abandoned and I think it should be confiscated - I shall take up all that Genl Ludlow turned over as his orders to give possession are considered insufficient - A S Flagg Capt &c
