was legally Bound with said Ned Paliafaire and was free at the time. there being no slave law in Va by which any free colored person could be bound out as an apprentice. she appears to be perfectly satisfied, to remain where she is. The accompanying statement will sho' and explain it.

Homes have been secured for these families in Brookly and New York through the agency of Mr Darrl Hodskins Agt for Freedmens relief asso' Phil Penn They are destitute and out of employment most of them sustained by Gov't - a record of all forwarded North is Kept and will be consolidated and forwarded to asst comr at the end of the month. The Supt considers if for the interst of the Freedmen and the Bureau that these families be sent. I could request that transportationto N.Y. for Mr Hodskins in charge of these people be furnished.
