States that Mr James Jones of "Jones Landing" called at his office yesterday for the restoration of his plantation at that place now in the possession of the Bureau. He (Jones) having received his Pardon says that he called on the Asst Com'r some days since, who informed him "that a formal application was unnecessary, to call upon Capt Barnes who would put him in possession of his property"
States that he declined to act in the premises without orders from Hd Qrs Asst com'r's,

Respectfully returned. As it is likely that this officer had attended Freedmen who had paid as well as those who could not, I can see no proper reason for compensating him for the past - unless a more specific agreement is shown_ I do not think the Bureau is under obligations to pay the Medical bills of the overseer_ For the future in order to decide in regard to it. - A statement more definite should be forwarded in regard to the necessity of a Medical Officer there - the average number of sick who cannot provide for themselves medical attendance and the rate of compensation the Doctor would require for attendance on the same,
